Welcome to Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church!
We hope this page will answer the questions you may have about visiting our church.

Where is the church located?  Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church is a brown stone building on the corner of 5th Avenue and 10th Street in downtown Huntington, West Virginia.

Will I be welcome?  Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church strives to practice radical hospitality.  Everyone is welcome.   In an effort to demonstrate our belief that everyone is a sacred and beloved child of God, the Church has joined the Reconciling Ministries Network.  Not only are you welcome, but we hope you will share in our journey to become more Christ-like – share your thoughts, your spiritual gifts, and your faith with us.

What time is Sunday worship?  Our Sunday morning worship service begins at 10:30 a.m. Worship includes liturgy, prayer, a special music offering, hymns and the proclamation of the Word.  Music is accompanied by organ and piano.  The worship service is held in the Sanctuary. Child care is available.  We also invite you to Sunday School - it starts at 9:30.

Is there parking nearby?  Absolutely.  You will find the Church’s large parking lot behind the building on 10th Street; enter from 6th Avenue.  Street parking is also available.  Both the parking lot and the street offer reserved accessible parking for persons with mobility issues.

Where are the entrances to the Church building?  There are several entrances: large doors on the 5th Avenue side of the church that access the Sanctuary and the garden entrance with access to the Sanctuary.  There are two sets of doors on the 10th Street side of the building (closest to our parking lot).  The 10th Street doors offer easy access to both the Sanctuary and the Sunday school.

Is the building accessible?  Our church building was constructed over 90 years ago, but we have worked to make it as accessible as possible.  Our 10th Street entrance offers both a ramp and a motorized chair lift to access the ground floor and the elevator with access to all floors (including the first floor and the Sanctuary).   For entrance from 5th Avenue, enter the garden for ramped access to the Sanctuary.

If you have additional questions, we hope you will call our church office at 304-525-8116.
